AAKHIR KAUN, directed by AMRUTHAVARSHINI J., imbibes a relatively new style of theatre called Perspective theatre. This format basically consists of different characters revealing the story according to their perspectives. The three main characters of the play were a SADHU, a FILM BUFF and a DRUNKARD. These three happened to be witnessed at a scene of murder in a village. They explain their stories according to their perspectives to the village head. In the end, it is revealed that the village head’s servant committed the murder because he believed his friend who told him that “to become a politician you necessarily have to have a criminal record.” The play essentially centers on the ignorance of a village bumpkin, and the dark and satirical comedy brought out in the play fetched GAP a standing ovation at the 8th VTU YOUTH FEST ’06. Thank you.
